The TTMB Host Business
“A mentor gives back and is willing to assist the next generation in achieving their goals. I'm willing to do my part to assist young people. I had great mentors, so I’m willing to be one.”
Joe Branch,
TTMB Mentor
The TTMB host business* realizes the value of identifying and developing tomorrow’s entrepreneurs. Whether a small business or large corporation, our partners equip teens with the tools necessary to achieve their entrepreneurial goals. In addition to providing a productive experience, the TTMB host business is also determined to provide a positive one. They take care to ensure the workplace environment is safe, free from harassment, safety issues, and unethical behavior.
*Home-based businesses are ineligible to participate.
The TTMB Mentor
The TTMB mentor may be the proprietor, executive officer, or staff member of a participating host business and commits to hosting an apprentice for the entirety of the assignment. He or she conducts one-on-one mentorship sessions with the apprentice to discuss entrepreneurship, the business, industry or market. Our mentors understand that TTMB, unlike other employment programs, places a strong emphasis on mentorship and recognizes that the roles and responsibilities of a mentor differ from those of an employer. The TTMB Mentor agrees to:
- attend mentor orientation
- employ the apprentice four days a week (Tuesday-Friday or Saturday; 24hr. min.- 28hr. max. per wk.)
- assign the apprentice meaningful tasks related to the marketing, operation and support of the business
- meet with TTMB staff at the host business site to assess the progress of the apprentice
- complete evaluations for both the apprentice and the program
Becoming a TTMB mentor is a rewarding experience—it’s your opportunity to cultivate the next generation of entrepreneurs. Lend your time and talent today!
